22nd November 2005
It wasn't more than 20 minutes or so the group had been following the tunnel down when the whole tunnel suddenly vibrated and shook. The vibration seemed to be come from the surface, the main part of Towz. With a look, Vincent, Cogil, Ryan and Jerome all decided to head back to the surface to find out what in the world could have caused such a thing.
As the four of them headed back up towards the surface several more vibrations could be felt. It wasn't quite like that of an explosion, although at least three of them had never felt the vibrations of a large explosion, but it was clear the source was at the surface. After several minutes Vincent, Cogil, Ryan and Jerome reached the top, and came out of the hatch once more.
It was still night time but there seemed to be some sort of celebration going on down the street from where the four individuals had come up from.
The source of the vibrations seemed to a be large device designed to hurl explosive charges into the air. At a particular height the charges would explode, allowing anything left to fall from the air in a spectacular show of lights.
"What do you suppose is going on?" Vincent asked.
"I don't know, but the whole city seems to be there. I think it's a celebration of some kind but I should think the Towzians would have mentioned such plans to us. Lets go take a look." Cogil said.
Vincent, Cogil, Ryan and Jerome went down the street, toward a gathering crowd. The light show going on in the sky continued as it was, every so often another vibration would shake the ground.
Just the four walked up to the gathered crowd an announcement was made that the show was now over. The announcement seemed to be made from every where at once and no where in particular. Vincent especially found the effect to be disorienting.
As the crowd started to break up the anouncer became visible toward the crowd of people. It was, in fact, Itep who was in the middle of the crowd. The epxression on Itep's face changed a little when he saw the four them stand in the street where the crowd had been.
"Did our little show wake you?" Itep asked.
"Well yes, I think so", Cogil said before one else could, "what was going on anyway?"
"With the activity I must have missed the opportunity to tell you: the summer festival started last week so this week is the annual light show the city likes to put on. For many it is the favorite part of the whole year."
"So this isn't a religoious holiday, obviously, so what exactly is it to celebrate?" Cogil asked.
"No, not religious. I've never really thought about what it represents in particular, I suppose just living to see another wonderful summer in the city of Towz.
